In the middle of August, ILICA installed the third constructed wetland for The Wetlands Initiative (TWI) of Chicago. The project, located at Fulton Farms near Saunemin, IL in Livingston County, totaled approximately 1 acre in size and will be surrounded by a buffer area of pollinator habitat. Conditions were near perfect all week during construction and feedback from attendees at the two, open-to-the-public field days was positive. Field day topics included constructed wetlands, saturated buffers, bioreactors, drainage water management, cover crops, pollinator habitat, USDA programs, and soil conservation.
